Men's Total Body Panel: A Comprehensive Full Body Blood Test (31 Tests, One Draw)

A comprehensive blood test for men that answers the big questions in one visit: how your heart risk looks beyond basic cholesterol, how your metabolism, thyroid and kidneys are working, whether you are short on key nutrients, and where your hormones stand. Thirty-one Quest tests, one fasting morning draw, no membership or subscription.

Most annual checkups cover a basic metabolic panel and cholesterol. This full body blood test goes further, grouping 31 tests by the question each area answers.

Heart and blood vessels. A Cardio IQ lipid panel plus apolipoprotein B (ApoB), which can be high even when LDL cholesterol is normal; lipoprotein(a), a risk factor not covered by a routine lipid panel that the National Lipid Association advises measuring at least once in every adult; hs-CRP, used to estimate heart disease risk; and homocysteine, an independent cardiovascular risk factor.

Metabolism and liver. The Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (glucose, liver enzymes, electrolytes, protein), hemoglobin A1c, fasting insulin, GGT and uric acid show how you handle blood sugar and whether the liver is under strain.

Thyroid. TSH, free T4 and free T3 show how the thyroid is working; TPO and thyroglobulin antibodies show whether autoimmunity such as Hashimoto's is involved.

Nutrients and blood. A CBC, vitamin D, B12, folate, ferritin, iron with TIBC, red-cell magnesium and OmegaCheck (omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids) look for common deficiencies and anemia.

Hormones. Total and free testosterone with SHBG, ultrasensitive estradiol, DHEA-sulfate, morning cortisol and IGF-1 give a full picture of androgen, adrenal and growth-hormone-related status.

Kidneys and urine. Cystatin C with eGFR adds a kidney measure less affected by muscle mass than creatinine, and a complete urinalysis checks for protein, glucose, blood and signs of infection.

Prostate. PSA is included. Under USPSTF guidance, PSA screening for men 55 to 69 is an individual decision best made with a clinician, so read the PSA FAQ below before ordering.

Everything comes from one Quest visit, at $121 less than ordering the 31 tests separately.

Fasting Required

One or more tests in this panel require fasting for accurate results:

  • Do not eat or drink anything except water for 8-12 hours before your blood draw.
  • Water is allowed and encouraged - stay hydrated!
  • Schedule your lab visit in the morning for convenience.

What This Panel Measures

Thirty-one tests from one blood draw and one urine sample. Heart: Lipid Panel Cardio IQ (total, LDL, HDL and non-HDL cholesterol, triglycerides), apolipoprotein B, lipoprotein(a), hs-CRP and homocysteine. Metabolism and liver: Comprehensive Metabolic Panel, hemoglobin A1c, fasting insulin, GGT and uric acid. Thyroid: TSH, free T4, free T3, and TPO and thyroglobulin antibodies. Nutrients and blood: CBC with differential, vitamin D (25-hydroxy), vitamin B12, serum folate, ferritin, iron with TIBC and saturation, RBC magnesium, and OmegaCheck (EPA, DHA, DPA, total omega-3 and omega-6, and omega-6/omega-3 ratios). Hormones: total and free testosterone, SHBG, ultrasensitive estradiol (LC/MS), DHEA-sulfate, total cortisol and IGF-1 (LC/MS). Prostate: total PSA. Kidneys: cystatin C with eGFR (plus creatinine and eGFR in the CMP) and a complete urinalysis.

Who Should Get This Panel

Adult men who want a thorough baseline in one visit rather than piecing tests together; men with a family history of early heart disease, diabetes or thyroid disease; men with symptoms such as low energy, low libido or weight change who want hormones, thyroid, iron and vitamins checked together; men who have only ever had basic cholesterol and want ApoB and Lp(a); and men who prefer a one-time, no-membership comprehensive blood test they can repeat when they choose. Not available to anyone under 18.

When to Get Tested

As a yearly or one-time baseline, or when you want to see the effect of lifestyle changes across many systems at once. Book an early morning appointment, ideally between 7 and 10 a.m., after a 12-hour fast: testosterone and cortisol are normally highest in the morning and iron is best measured fasting in the morning. If you have just been ill, consider waiting until you have recovered, since a recent illness can temporarily change some results. The National Lipid Association recommends measuring Lp(a) at least once in every adult.

Understanding Your Results

With 31 tests, a few results outside the reference range are common and do not automatically mean something is wrong; what matters is the pattern and how it fits your history. High ApoB, Lp(a), hs-CRP or homocysteine add to cardiovascular risk beyond standard cholesterol (for Lp(a), the National Lipid Association treats 125 nmol/L or higher as high risk). A raised A1c, fasting insulin or liver enzymes point to metabolic strain. An abnormal TSH with abnormal free T4 or T3 suggests a thyroid problem, and positive TPO or thyroglobulin antibodies suggest autoimmune thyroid disease. Low ferritin, B12, folate or vitamin D identify deficiencies worth addressing. Testosterone is normally highest in the morning, so a low result is read with the draw time in mind and may be rechecked. A high PSA has many causes besides cancer, including an enlarged or inflamed prostate and urinary infections, and is usually repeated or further evaluated rather than acted on alone. A low eGFR, high cystatin C or protein in the urine warrants a kidney follow-up. JustLabs results are informational: review the full report with a clinician, who can decide what needs repeating, further testing or a specialist.
