What Does a Iron & TIBC Test Measure?
This test measures serum iron (circulating iron), TIBC (your blood's total iron-carrying capacity), and calculates transferrin saturation (what percentage of your iron-carrying capacity is being used). Together, these markers distinguish between iron deficiency, chronic disease, and iron overload — information ferritin alone cannot provide.
How the Test Works
The Iron & TIBC test is performed via a standard blood draw at any Quest Diagnostics location. Your sample is sent to a CLIA-certified lab for analysis. Results are typically available within 1-2 business days in your JustLabs account.
