What Is a Normal CMP Level?
The normal CMP range is 70–99 mg/dL. Values below or above this range may indicate a condition that requires further evaluation.
Reference Range Table
| Marker | Low | Normal | High |
|---|---|---|---|
| Glucose | Below 70 mg/dL — hypoglycemia | 70–99 mg/dL | 100-125 prediabetes; ≥126 diabetes |
| Creatinine | Below 0.6 mg/dL — low muscle mass | 0.6–1.2 mg/dL | Above 1.2 mg/dL — reduced kidney function |
| ALT | N/A | 7–56 U/L | Above 56 U/L — liver inflammation |
| Calcium | Below 8.5 mg/dL — hypocalcemia | 8.5–10.5 mg/dL | Above 10.5 mg/dL — hyperparathyroidism possible |
What Affects Your Results
Fasting status (glucose is affected), hydration level (affects kidney markers), medications (diuretics affect electrolytes, statins affect liver enzymes), recent exercise, and alcohol consumption.
When to Retest
Annually for routine health screening. More frequently if monitoring diabetes, kidney disease, liver disease, or electrolyte disorders.
